How to slow the speed of the translation?

Solution 1: Optimize the length of translations

Use BlipCut AI Rewrite Directly

BlipCut provides AI rewrite feature, supported by ChatGPT, for you to use for free without consuming extra credits. You can use GPT to rewrite and shorten the translated text. This will naturally reduce the speed of the translation. Here is the guide:

  1. Locate the segment that is speaking too fast. Then click on the magic wand icon.
  2. BlipCut AI rewrite
  3. If you’re not satisfied with the rewritten text, click the "Try again" button to regenerate it until you’re happy with the result. Once satisfied, click the "Apply" button to finalize the changes, which will slow down the translation speed.
  4. BlipCut rewrite translation

Use Google Translate or DeepL

You can also copy the text transcribed by BlipCut and paste it into Google Translate or DeepL for text translation. However, please note that the length of the translated text needs to be similar to that of the original.

Solution 2: Adjust the timestamps

If the translation is already short enough, it would be easier to change the timestamp at this point.

  1. Locate to the card that shows fast speech.
  2. Click on the timestamp to make the change.
  3. Press Enter or click elsewhere on the page to apply it, and the voice speed will change at the same time.
  4. Click on play icon to preview the result.

Note: Watch for any overlap with the upper and lower card timestamps after you change the timestamps. If it affects the quality of the video translation, it is recommended to adjust the timestamps again.

Solution 3: Adjust Speed

Now we support directly adjusting the speed of speech without having to make other changes.

  1. Locate to the card that shows fast speech, then click on the speed icon.
  2. BlipCut adjust speed
  3. The slider bar shows the current speed by default. Drag the slider bar to adjust to the appropriate speed. We recommend speed adjustments to the 0.85x-1.25x range.
  4. BlipCut change speed
  5. Finally, click the play icon to preview the result.

What can I do if the audio was not synced with the video?

  1. Inaccurate speech recognition leads to wrong sentence breaks. You can make adjustments by manually merging cards or adding cards.
  2. BlipCut adjust card
  3. There is an inaccuracy in the timestamp. You can click the timestamp and make changes.
  4. The translation is too long. You can adjust the translation or the speed.
  5. The translation is too short. Simply adjust the translation.

How to do if parts of the translation have been missed?

If parts of the translation have been missed, you can follow these steps to add the missing content:

  1. 1.On the editing page, locate the card closest to the missing part.
  2. Click the "Add Card" button below that section.
  3. BlipCut add card
  4. Adjust the timestamp, speaker, and add the original subtitle text.
  5. Click the Quick Translate icon to generate the translation for the added text.
